July already, and it’s a mixed bag of weather, but getting very hot 3 weeks in.
Again we are using the marina at Aston as a base, cathing up with old friends and making short trips out for a few days with the boat. It’s also unusual for us to have the car at hand, so we’re not confined to just using the boat.
A cruise out to Penkridge for a few days, Aston to Great Haywood Junction, onto the Staffs & Worcester Canal, through Tixall Wides and Tixall Lock, over the Trent Aquaduct to Milford where we saw the Reed Warbler, past Stafford and through Deptmoor Lock where I lived in the 60s, and onwards to turn at Acton Gate. 30 miles and 10 locks in total.
Last trip out for July was to take Chrissie to Stoke Boats for some TLC. 13 miles and 15 locks. She will be there until we return early September for an Autumnal cruise. Looking forward to that with Jill.
