Narrowboat Naiad in 2005
2005 and we bought our first Narrowboat called Naiad, apparently it means a Water Nymph.
She is a Braidbar Boat, No.75 and only a year old. Long story but we knew we could only keep it for that year.
We cruised extensively for 7 months in her, including doing the Thames from Limehouse to Letchlade and a long trip over to Norfolk and the Great Ouse.
A fabulous year, and we sold her that Novemeber through ABND Ltd. Boat Brokerage in Crick, but knew we’d be back with another boat one day.

Naiad is a 58′ semi-trad design Narrowboat, shell built by Tim Tyler of Sheffield and fitted out by Braidbar Boats of Lord Vernons Wharf in Poynton.
A Beta 43 diesel engine via a PRM gearbox provides the propulsion.
She has a hydraulicly powered bow thruster.
Twin alternators, Victron Inverter for 230v systems.
An Eberspacher diesel central heating boiler, HW storage tank.
Sani-nautico Pumpout toilet to waste tank.
Shower cubical, wash basin etc.
Inside, the raised Pullman Dinette gives excellent views through the hopper style windows, this also converts into a double bed by dropping the table down.
The bedroom has a pull-out 5′ bed that pushes back to leave good walking space. And storage under.
The Galley is fully fitted with stainless sink unit, fridge and cooker.
In the Saloon there’s a click-clack sofa that again pulls out to make a double, and has storage underneath.
Oil fired stove, TV and radio unit.
Outside the paintwork was by one of the best painters, Andy Russell, dark Green with red panels and sign writing.
We had a wonderful season on Naiad and sold her in the Novemeber through ABND Ltd. Boat Brokerage in Crick, but learnt so much during this time, all of which made us certain to get another boat as soon as possible.
