Our last few days cruising in 2021, we joined the Staffs and Worcester Canal at Autherley Junction to travel North to Great Haywood Junction, joining the Trent and Mersey again to finish back in Aston Marina where Chrissie will overwinter.
Back in Aston Marina, frosty mornings, time to go home?
Without doubt the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is the highlight and we met a few friends there to take them over and back, which meant we did the Aqueduct 6 times.
Llangollen Basin is great for mooring and visiting Llangollen town and surroundings.
The River Dee is quite spectacular running through the town.
There’s quite a flow in the Llangollen Canal as it’s fed by the Dee further upstream this also supplies water to the Hurleston reservoir for drinking water. The resistance going upstream is noticeable, especially in tunnels and across the aqueducts.
Back in Aston Marina late October in time to service the engine and winterise Chrissie before returning home.
